During the Ski for Light dugnad at the Salt Lake Airport a few weeks ago, a passenger noticed the Sons of Norway logo on the back of our t-shirts and approached me. He said he had been trying to find a new home for several pairs of Norwegian skis he inherited from his parents and thought someone connected to Sons of Norway might be interested. He got back to me a few days ago with the following:
"I have three pairs of antique (1940’s) Norwegian skis (they were my parents, acquired in Germany in the late 1940 to ski the Zugspitze) that I am trying to sell. Might anyone at the Leif Erickson Lodge have an interest, they are in great shape, I have their poles as well.
Norwegian (Gresvig Sport Peter) hickory skis; 205 cm long; steel toe and heel plate and edges; Kandahar step-in binding with spring heel catch.
A pair of 192 .5 cm (77 inch) long Gresvig (Oslo) Norwegian hickory skis; steel toe and heel plate, and railings. Alpina (Eckel) step-in bindings for a spring heel catch.
A pair of 190 cm (75 inch) long Ehrhardt #3925 Norwegian hickory skis; steel toe (with leather strap) and heel plate, and railings. Kandahar with step-in bindings with spring heel catch."
